How can I use a Microsoft word document without paying for word?

I want to download an Avery label template but it only comes through as a Word document. I have Works on my computer not word. What does it cost to activate Word and is there another way around that. Thanks

  1. give Open Office a try. openoffice.org
  2. for MS Word u have to install MS Office and u can get it from the net or u can install it from a CD if net then u have to search it in google.com
  3. montag is right.. Open office will open (and edit and save) Microsoft office documents just fine... If you are trying to open an Office 2007 document (ends in .docx) you will need the version 3 beta program, but for anything ending in .doc the 2.x version will work perfectly. The program is completely free to use. The other option is you can download a "office reader" from microsoft that will allow you to read office documents, but you can not save or edit them. I would suggest not bothering with it.
  4. Microsoft offers a free Word viewer now. You can get one for any of their files, powerpoint, word etc. Check out the link or go to office.microsoft.com and search word viewer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657CE88-7CFA-457A-9AEC-F4F827F20CAC&DisplayLang=en
