  1. If you downloaded from a secure website shouldnt be a problem, is at a exe. file? Beware exacutable(exe) can be dangerous, happen to me, 10 years using pcs, and first virus by a simple exe command file.
  2. Yes. You are downloading it from secure servers, and unless your computer is already infected than you should be good to go.
  3. it is safe as long as you download it from openoffice.org
  4. Yes, OpenOffice is safe. http://www.openoffice.org
  5. I told someone yesterday or the day before to try OpenOffice.org, not sure if it was you. That box is just to warn you that it hasn't got any special certificates or whatever. It's safe as long as you get it from a trusted website (openoffice.org, softpedia.com, download.com, majorgeeks.com etc.). OpenOffice is a widely used program in the Linux community, so I highly doubt there is anything at all wrong with it!
  6. Open office is great, yes its safe. The only problem you'll have is going back and forth between the word programs and the excel (OO calls it "Calc"). It'll work, i do it at work, but sometimes formatting gets a little messed up. If you're only using it for yourself and not swapping back and forth on computers you'll be fine.
  7. yes it safe and very cool I'm using it too. don't worry it'll work!
  8. its safe if you downloaded through a safe site such as download.com or open office itself It's a terrible program though and has been known to slow down computers by a lot and allow back door vulnerability to viruses If you can't afford to buy microsoft office normally, you should by the student edition can split it with a few friends (i'm pretty sure the serial code can be used up to 10 times legally)
  9. Yes. But like everyone else said, make sure you're downloading it from somewhere safe (preferably openoffice.org)
  10. open office is safe. I use it. You surely would have downloaded it from a secure website my intuition says.
  11. Open Office is quite safe. I downloaded it from http://www.openoffice.org. I use it regularly, but I agree with Tremblor's comments about formatting of MS Office documents. Still, its not a big problem; otherwise I would have stopped using it - most of the documents that I open and save are in MS office format.
