I am looking for a letter template to send to a collection company...?

I want to request my balance owed and/or what my payment options are. Does anyone know of a website that I could find a sample letter like this??

  1. If you have windows xp there are plenty of business letter templates.
  2. www.microsoft.com has many templates for most any request. You will be searching for a letter template. The specific information you will be putting in that letter is up to you. You will not find a letter with your specific information to a collection company.
  3. From here, I can tell you what your collection agency's payment options will be. They'll want you to either pay in full or pay as much of the balance owed as possible. Personally, I wouldn't put the ball in their court and ask them what type of agreement they are willing to make. I would let them know what you are willing to offer. Here is a letter that might help you get started: [Sender's address] [Date] Creditor City, State Zip RE: PROPOSAL TO SETTLE ACCOUNT Dear [Name]: My income barely covers my living expenses and I have no assets to sll in order to pay your or my other creditors. I am committed to paying this debt and am willing to offer a settlement of _____ cents on the dollar as payment in full. According to my records, my balance is $[amount]. Based on a settlement of ______ cents on the dollars, I can make my payment in full of $[amount] by [date]. If you accept this proposal, please be prepared to report this account as 'paid in full' to all three credit reporting agencies once I have made the payments we agree upon, and indicate such in writing to me as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact me at (111) 111-1111. Thank you. Sincerely, [Your Name] I know this isn't *exactly* what you're looking for, but it's the closest thing I have in my little bag of goodies. Obviously, you can modify the letter to say what you need it to say. I would maybe call the collection agency first and see what the balance is and then write the letter. Hope that helps!
  4. Take a trip to http://www.creditboards.com This is a forum dedicated to fixing your credit. There is a section there that is loaded with letter templates. Just search around a bit and you will find them.
