what is activeX control. I'm trying to download templates from Microsoft Office and Its telling me to install?

Should I? I dont want to mess up my new laptop! Help!!!!

1. Go ahead and install, they're tiny programs that some applications need to use, perfectly safe☺
2. Active-X is an open source technology that has been integrated into the Windows versions of Microsoft Office. Most Active-X controls are redundant to the built-in controls supplied with Microsoft Office natively, but some people use them because they are there. Many people will tell you how dangerous it is to install Active-X controls, but I have never heard of a single problem with them and they've been around more than 10 years, Granted, the open source community has done little to improve or update them since they first came out, but that doesn't mean they are bad. They are Windows - only, though, so if you use them in an Office document the document will not work in Office for Mac or in OpenOffice, LibreOffice, SkyDrive, or other so-called compatible products.
