I'm in year 10 and I have to write a CV for work experience. Ive pretty much done it but I have to include certificates ect. from school subjects.. BUT I used to do karate a few years ago and I have a ton of karate certificates Can I include them ? (it was an outside/ extra-cirricular after school club) ALSO what is the difference between professional training and qualifications ? Because that's on my CV template aswell Well I have got qualifications in health and safety thanx to my school.. )British Safety Council Entry Level Award in Workplace Hazard Awareness (Entry 3)) but would that come under professional training ? GCSE's are qualifications too..

  1. Your sexual fetishes.
  2. Because you have never worked, you won't have any pro training or qualifications. Put your karate on - it shows diligence and dedication to your sport even though it is outside school! EDIT : Excellent! Put them on then!!
  3. so basically NEVER lie... thats the golden rule for CV`s. also i wouldnt put in the karate thing just because the employer doesnt really care if you can kick some guys butt in a fight :P. add in anything that shows that you are capable and educated and have a good basic understnding. proffessional training doesnt apply to you and qualifications is things like GCSE`s and A levels. good luck
  4. Make sure that everything you include on your CV is accurate. A CV doesn't need to be long to be impressive, in fact, the more concise it is, the better. It does need to be well written and laid out, with no spelling or grammatical errors, and it needs to highlight your best qualities, to make you stand out as a strong candidate. Karate is an impressive interest. Any good employer will realise it builds discipline, character and fitness. If you were currently doing karate, then it would be a great idea to mention it, and to indicate your highest level of achievement, but as you gave it up years ago, it is less appropriate. If you do mention it, have something to say about your current interests too. And don't list all of your karate certificates! Keep the Interests section on your CV short and snappy. Qualifications are exams or degrees awarded by a school, college or university. You should list all your main qualifications on your CV. Professional training is any kind of course which teaches work-related skills. It should only be mentioned on a CV if it is relevant to the job for which you're applying. The Workplace Hazard Awareness award is professional training for some jobs, but is it relevant in your case, and is it going to impress? My recommendation: if it's a public sector employer, or if the work has a physical aspect, then mention it, otherwise, don't.
  5. When you write a CV, you are Selling Yourself. You need to get good work experience, and work hard to ensure you get a very good reference for your future employer. I would advise you on setting it as so (This is my current layout) ### TITLE [FULL NAME] >D.O.B. >Address >Email >Home Phone >Mobile Phone #EDUCATIONN# (list your schools) >*School Type (Primary/secondary/college etc.) ~~ *School Name *Years Attended >"Currently Studying for GCSEs in ....*linearly listed* Results (formal qualifications) >[current results/predicted grades - if predicted, state so.] #Achievements# >*list your achievements >e.g. "During 2006-2007 I successfully climbed Snowdon in Wales, and Ben Nevis in Scotland" >other examples include Courses such as Duke of Edinburgh Award #Hobbies and interests# >e.g. Sports, Arts etc... #Academic References# [2 references] >Name >Position >Address >Telephone #Personal goals and ambitions >e.g. "I have a very keen interest in..." "my long term goal is..." Remember to be honest (they will check!) positive (only say the good stuff!) and remember. YOU ARE TRYING TO SELL YOURSELF!
