Help with writing my CV?

I want to write up a CV so I can begin looking for a job properly but I have no idea where to start. If anyone has any advice on making it as professional as possible please could you help me? Also, useful sites with good CV writing information and templates would be very useful too if anyone knows of any!

1. I would always suggest - having all the info you may need for a CV ready in a word.doc BUT to then write up a CV that is specific to the job you are applying for, you may wish to highlight different experiences or omit such and the level of HR within the company. You would know if they were very formal or just looking for a basic CV that they could expand on at interview. Many companies now just want an application form filled out. Howver presentation is always uppermost so get some good quality paper and A4 envelopes so it is not folded.
