  1. This is what I recommend you purchase: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-Home-Student-2007/dp/B000HCZ8EO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1261859111&sr=8-1 If you can't afford it, there is a free version of office type of software some people like. it's similar to Microsoft Office in a lot of ways: http://www.openoffice.org
  2. I don't know where you're located, but if you're in the UK, you can buy Office for £60 from amazon.co.uk or you can download it for a 60 day free trial from here: http://trial.trymicrosoftoffice.com/trialukireland/default.aspx?re_ms=oo&culture=en-GB That way you can decide if you really want it or not. It also includes other office software. Alternatively, if you're a student at a UK or US university you can get student licences for the complete office ultimate suite for much much cheaper: ($60 / £39 / €52) UK: http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-uk/default.aspx USA: http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/default.aspx Germany: http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/daswahreoffice/default.aspx (and there are other countries too) It's almost worth taking a part time university course to be an official student because the software prices are so cheap! The alternative is OpenOffice.org, which is totally free, and can open Microsoft documents too. It's very well respected software. www.openoffice.org
  3. you need to buy office, you van't just get word, it will cost like £80, but you can get free programes which are just as good
  4. open office is very good. but if you need the official microsoft one, and you're a student in the uk you can get the full package with word, powerpoint, excel, access, etc for about £40 from software 4 students.
  5. You can download genuine, not pirated Microsoft Office 2010 beta for free, which will run until October 2010. You might want to get used to the new version, which won't be for sale until June: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/download-office-professional-plus/default.aspx Amazon.com has a special page for Microsoft Office where prices are updated every hour. Here's the link to that page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FMicrosoft-Office-12-Suites-Software%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D203104011%26ref_%3Damb%255Flink%255F5499582%255F3&tag=jigoshopa-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
