Is Wordpress.org good for 100% static websites?
I'm thinking of migrating my html websites from Microsoft Frontpage to either DW CS4 (I have this) or Wordpress. Not sure which one is better for static sites. My sites are all html and have no need for a blog or anything dynamic for that matter. My intention is to build a number of small websites with the same main template but all I will change is the graphics and content for each site. If I look at the coding on frontpage, its really messy. At least with DW if I learn CSS it should get rid of that problem. Would wordpress.org automatically create nice clean code too? Whats my best alternative and what would be easier for a girl? Yes I'm aware that wordpress is geared towards blogs. The reason why I'm asking is because if I switch to DW I will have an initial steep learning curve, but with wordpress I've heard that its just like using Microsoft Word? Either way I would have to learn one of the platforms. Which one... I'm not sure.

- Why would you move your website to WordPress if you DO NOT have a blog? Wordpress is the 2nd most popular blog platform after Blogger. That's like buying a huge SUV and only use it to drive down to the grocery store 2 blocks away. A huge waste of resources.
- If you don't want or have a need for dynamic content, then why are you considering Wordpress? Wordpress is a database driven platform, thus it is dynamic in nature.
- Create that website in DREAMWEAVER using CSS is the better way for a static site.
- You can use Wordpress for anything your heart desires - it's not just for blogging anymore. It's so versatile that if you don't want it to look like a blog, you can make it look like a "real" site. Wordpress is easy to use- if you've never used it you'll need to learn it but it's not horribly bad. I have a friend that converted all of her sites to Wordpress - she uses the same template across all of her sites and she's never looked back. The only way you're going to get clean code is if you write it yourself, really. Wordpress is a huge improvement over Frontpage which finally has become obsolete - it's been replaced with Expression Web. Even if you decide to go for Wordpress, go ahead and learn DW and CSS. It will come in handy when you want to tweak a template. Or create your own.
