How do I recover my original version of Word with all of my templates and macros in it? I have tried recovery?

I should better explain myself - when I installed a trial version of Office it knocked out my original Word program with all of my macros, templates, etc. How do I get the original program back?

1. If you're lucky, the trial got installed into a different directory, so the original still physically exists. This is especially likely if you only had Word by itself. It should have asked, at installation, whether you want older files overwritten. If you said no, you should still have your old Word in there, somewhere. The macro and template files should be in the same directory with it. Do a Start, Search for "winword.exe". You should find two, in different folders. Go to the one that is not the trial, and make a new shortcut for that .exe file. Put it on your desktop. This should bring back your old Word. THEN find the uninstall.exe for the trial and uninstall it. I do hope for you that it was NOT overwritten, because that way you don't have one to go back to. Always check where an installation is going to go, and CHANGE IT. That makes sure it won't over-write anything you want to keep.
