Resume templates? Good or bad idea?

Is it a good idea to use a resume template to build your resume from scratch then apply for jobs. Good or bad idea? I see many different layouts of resume people use.

1. Good idea. It will save you a lot of time better spent applying for jobs. Besides, no one is going to penalize you for not having an original template.
