How do I put art onto PDF file templates and what software should I use?

I need to put artwork onto PDF file templates for album artwork manufacturing. What program should I use to do this? I'm going to scan actual physical artwork and I have to put the artwork into these templates that were given to me as PDF files but am totally lost on how to do this. Help me! thank you!

1. Well I use Photoshop CS3, and personally I find it to be the best for my line of work, so my answer is based around using that. I'm sure this answer is generally applicable to any other similar software though. Anyways, it's pretty simple really. Just scan your image and save it as a jpg or whichever. Open your artwork template, and open the artwork image, select and copy the art, and paste it into your template file. From there, it's just moving it around/fitting it into the templates. Also, for printing you would want to set your colour mode to CMYK, although this might already be set in the artwork template. Just something to bear in mind! Hope that helps!
