Is there a Template Letter I can use to explain my financial Hardship to Bill Collectors?

I want to apply some loose money to all my debt but I dont know how to type a decent letter to see if they will take a substantial amount off my debt so I can tackle my debt. Slow and Steady wins the race i,m hoping. Thanks in advance

1. If you send creditor's a letter that says you will pay them $X on XX date, you're basically sending them a contract specifying your terms. If you fail to live up to those terms, they can continue to contact you. It can be any amount, so make sure you put in an amount you can actually pay! The letter MUST be sent via snail mail, and if you're dealing with a bad lender, you may want to send it certified with return receipt as proof.
