"Please forward your CV/written to" means, do I better write by hand writing?

Please tell me which is better, hand writing or just done by computer. UK only

  1. computer. definitely
  2. that depends on if you have good hand writing or good typing skills
  3. By handwriting it's always better bez sometimes the need it for graphology.
  4. I would personally send a CV done on the computer with a hand written covering note (depending on if your writting is good).
  5. Just think of the person receiving the CVs. Do they get hundreds and have to sift through them quickly? I would think that it does not matter although most seem to be by computer. Hand writing will certainly stand out and could work in your favour. Be an individual. The important thing is clarity and content.
  6. All it means is that they want a hard copy cv from you in the post for their consideration and their files, not a huge long email (from possibly hundreds of applicants) clogging up their system. Very few people now a days would actually hand write a CV and i would always prefer a computer generated one - people's hand writing may be decipherable to them but often is not to others. If i have a couple of hundred CV's to read through the last thing i want to do is to spent 20 minutes trying to make sense of someones hand writing.
  7. Hello Standard I can assure you having sifted hundreds perhaps thousands over 3 decades or so any hand written ones take 3 times as long to decipher :-) Good quality word processed USE SPELL CHECKER once, twice and 3 times, then sit quietly once you have completed it and read through every single word making notes on what reads well and what does not. You should be in a position to change it two or three times until you are happy with it. Keep font size to 11 or 12, Aerial or similar is a good style, use quality paper and write only on one side; produce no more than 2 pages and after the title go straight into a summary, this is useful to the person 'sifting' as it contains everything in a brief paragraph and allows then to go back to it. Artistic licence should be used throughout but remain faithful to the truth, it is just how you tell your story that counts. No age details please, and if you have post school college uni qualifications and they are recent just put down what you have not when you gained it; this can be discussed at your interview (oh interview techniques, that's a story in itself). If you get totally stuck I am more than happy to peruse it for you and help out. Good luck Curtis
  8. Done on the computer looks more professional.
  9. Agree with everyone else. Plus... It's easier to lose a papercopy of a CV, if you send it electronically it's more likely to be found. But more importantly, if you send it in the post it will take a few days to get there. By that time they could have reviewed a CV on email, interviewed them and offered the job!!!
  10. Computer definitely. If someone sent me a handwritten one I would start to worry that they are not computer literate.
