10 business/continuous improvement ideas?
Hi, I have to come up with 10 business/continuous improvement ideas as part of a university project. The scenario is that I am a service improvement manager who works for one of the big 4 banks, in the current climate I need to come up with 10 ideas which will make my department more efficient and then present these to the board. I was thinking of some things like setting up email distribution lists and producing templates for letters/documents regularly used. But I am stuck on some innovative ideas etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

- Email distribution and templates are good ideas. I'd add - reviewing phone bills (for the department) and consolidating/minimizing costs; - mandating that all photocopying is double sided (reduces paper consumption and better for the environment); -stagger working hours for staff (start times and finish times) - enables you to provide longer days for your customers and improvement to customer service; -consider a work-share program for employees - enabling trained staff to continue working as they get close to retirement or have young children at home - you keep the experience/skills and lower the cost of hiring and re-training; -cross-train all employees in your department to handle at least one other function or job responsibility - that will enable improved coverage during illness and/or vacations.
