Help! I need to create an event program and have no idea where to start.?
I start a new job as an executive assistant at a non-profit agency on the 14th. I'm the only "underling" so I'll be working on marketing and fundraising as well as the typical administrative duties. It's just the Executive Director and me. My boss knows my background isn't in marketing, but he also knows that I'm more than willing to learn. We have a big fundraising event coming up in the next couple of weeks and he wants me to design a program for the event. I've never done that before. I have access to PowerPoint and Word, but no publishing software (not that I'd know how to use it anyway) so I feel that I may be a little limited. Are there free templates that I can find somewhere? Any other tips from designers out there? I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

- No Biggie. You'll be fine. Just be sure you have what info. you need to include. Type it up in word and play around with the layout. You can use word Text for the Title. You can put in Borders, Bubbles, ClipArt, etc. where you want. In Fundraising, you want lots of exposure and 'wow' factor. Get all the free advertising you can with the newspaper, internet, local magazines, radio, and t.v. And, of course, e-mail. You might want the program to be on colored paper. Keep the front pretty simple and to the point. Be sure to thank sponsors, etc. on the back. Good Luck.
- Definitely go to your local library and see if they have any books on Microsoft publisher...check it out and learn a lot. Also, you may get to try out any one of several software packages available on Microsoft Office by going to www.microsoft.edu ; even when you are in a word doc clk on help and you may get to select online help where you can choose to have a trial time. Other ideas....used College books....all college books stores....you don't have to be registered at a univ or college to purchase a book. good luck
