I want to make changes to a free website layout under cc?

If someone has a website set up and its dedicated to providing free website templates for others but they have in the format so that the footer shows who designed the free template and it also shows work under CC license would it be okay if I just wanted to make a few changes to the layout? I will keep the credits and cc in the footer I just want to make the page layout wider so I can fit more information on my webpage. I also want to add an additional footer at the bottom for advertising space. This would mean I have to move the original cc credits down some on the page. Please help as I don't want to cause trouble from tweaking up something that is offered for free?? Thanks!

I'm not sure were you got the template from but you can customize any templates from any website to full extent as long as you leave the copyright license somewhere on the page to give credit to the person who designed it. But they released the images and coding to you accordingly, you can modify it to full extent if you wish. The best resort is to contact the template designer to ask them if you can modify it if you don't feel safe, but really as long as you keep a copyright on a template, you are allowed to completely re-change it.
3. If it were I that were providing the templates, I wouldn't be at all upset if you tweaked it, as long as you left the credit in-tact. But since I'm not the owner, I suggest sending them an e-mail and asking them! If they say know and you'd like a custom layout made, e-mail me from my profile and I will help you out there. Sorry about the spammer, just ignore him, he's going everywhere! He'll have his account disabled before he knows it.
