How do i get microsoft works back on my computer?

I bought a laptop about 6 months ago...it was an ex Display and it was all set up, it had microsoft office which was a free trial and MICROSOFT works already on it...I couldn't use microsoft office so never bought it but microsoft works was really use full......Unfortunately my computer got full of viruses and our virus protectors didn't get rid of it so my husband decided to reformat the computer......now i have no microsoft works and all the my files which are on a usb device wont open without it! We got no disc when we bought the laptop...is their anyway i can get it for free or is their any free software which is like it...with templates for cv's and letters etc. Many Thanks This was ex desplay so came as seen...not under any warrenty...no user manual etc! Thanks guys i have downloaded openoffice but it still doesn't have templates for making a CV or a letter etc...however it does open my existing files so that's something.

3. 1st mistake: "my husband decided to reformat the computer." Hubby deleted the Recovery Partition which contained your "Recovery Disks", when he used a generic XP disk. 2nd mistake: "We got no disc when we bought the laptop." Yes, you did, but you didn't read the laptop User Manual, or you wouldn't have made the 1st mistake. Call the laptop Manufacturer to order replacement "Recover Disks". You are lucky it's still under warranty.
