Letter of Intent for applying for job?

I need to write a letter of intent for a job I am applying for. It is basically to sell myself, but I dont know how to even begin? Any suggestions, or maybe a good website that has FREE templates?

1. There are tons of examples out there, but they're called "cover letters", generally. Just google it, and you'll find a ton. Also, I'm pretty sure that About.com has some good examples.
