- Putting common elements in a template saves you the trouble of creating it over and over again every time. If the common elements is a complex layout, there's a chance it may not come out the same the next time you try recreating it. You don't usually put content in a template unless there something you want repeated, but usually layouts in a template. For example you might want to create a special header that appears on every slide. You could create it once and might even copy and paste it on every new slide, but it's easier if it's in a template, so that when you click to add a new slide, your layout appears automatically. And you can reuse the template when you create a new powerpoint.
