Need help with website templates!!!?

I downloaded some free templates and they come in a zip file with a css code and a index along with the images used in the index, however, when i customized the index in dreamweaver and try to transfer it through a FTP to my website, the images and the formatting of the index does not show up. Just the text is showing on my website? Help! I also save the index into an css file and transfer that into the FTP and it still doesnt work. However if I use the original non customized index and css file it works. But those are no good to me. Any suggestions on what im doing wrong? I have tried to incorporate the css file into website and it still doenst fix the problem. The original index and css file is no good to me because it is not customized to fit my website. The material on the index is that of the creators and when i customize it to fit my site the format and images do not appear on my site, just my customized text appears.

  1. Although I'm not the best person to attempt an answer, with respect I find your query rather confusing with so many references to an index. As you may know, the home page of a website is always named index.htm or index.html (I think there may be an alternative to that!). You say that you have saved the index into a css file. This might be where you've gone wrong - depends on what you've called the file! External css files are usually named *.css. If you've kept that name then the website will not load as you don't then have an index.html file. Try incorporating the css code into your home page and see if that will work. Btw, I don't understand why the original non customised index and css file which works is no good to you! Good luck!!
