Any advices to write a CV to look for a job?

I've been told I have too much experience (I have two university degrees and several small artistic courses) and although the two degrees can be complementary, someone as told me that it might not look good on a CV. Can you advice me on the "Do's" and "Don'ts" when writing a CV. Too much information is better or worst? All the help you could give would be wonderful. Thanks so much.
