writing a cv - food and bad habits - tips etc?

My friend has written a CV for a job that I am referring him for (so the application has a baring on me - i.e. if he is declined it may make me look bad) and I feel he has made several fatal flaws in it. First of all he write the first half in third person perspective which surely is a fatal flaw, and he switches the first in the second half of it! Also the text is bunched up and spacing is awkward. What perspective would you write a cv in? Let me know of your successes or otherwise with the style of cv you write

  1. I usually write my CV in first person prespective, more like you are actually telling the person who is reading it. And well, it is better to space it properly. An untidy CV will not appease anyone much.
  2. Either first person or third are acceptable - a mix of both is not, as you say. A CV is the first impression a potential candidate makes, and if the CV is of poor quality, it will get binned pretty quick. Also, you/he should give serious thought to the layout - put a summary of experience and capability at the beginning of the CV, followed by examples of where you have added value to your previous employer, then finish with details of each role held. 3. First or third. Third is typiccally used for consulting gigs, where the employee will be "presented" to a client.
