  1. Didn't think you could be employed at 13. But anyhow. You should probably start with a paragraph about yourself. Next would normally be your education and qualifications. Then your previous work experience, and last but not least, 2 people who can provide references. It's often a good idea to include a covering letter, in which you can explain what appeals to you about the job etc.
  2. At 13 you might want to write a resume instead. The jobs you might be applying for might not even need either. Usually store applications are provided. These usually have pretty standard questions. These questions include previous employment, current schooling and usually 3 professional references (teachers, coaches, previous bosses) but none can be personal (family, friends). Make sure these people actually like you and have good things to say. Sometimes a job application has particular questions: How do you think your employment at .........(e.g. American Eagle) would contribute to society? (don't worry, not a real question). And these are in short, short essay form. For the interview they might ask you about a time that has challenged you or one in which you have had to go "outside the box". Also: Are you a team player? How would you deal with an unruly customer? Are you a punctual person? What would you do if you saw a fellow employee stealing? Really it's all about bullshitting your boss. This sounds bad but noone is the perfect candidate for a job yet noone admits this at the interview. Don't say, "I hate people" or "I usually wake up at 3 pm and go to bed at 3 am cuz I like to get wasted every night". When you actually get the job you won't be expected to be perfect either and you can be comfortable. But in the interview the best candidate is the one that most closely follows the job guidelines. Just be yourself but don't brag or boast about your skills besides assuring the employer you're competent and the best choice for the job. Dress nicely but not too extreme for an interview and be confident when you speak. You don't have to have the perfect application, that just opens the door. But a great interview lets you walk in.
