- You can use the very formal style which is called the block format where everything is flushed left. If you want to use the indented style, format is as follows: 1 inch margin all around (top, bottom, left and right). Your return address at the top should be centered. 1 line space between return address and the date of the letter Indent letter's date at 3.5 3 line spaces between date and the Addressee's name and address Addressee and address should all be flushed left 1 line space between address and your Re line and Re line should be indented .5 1 line space between Re line and Salutation Salutation is flushed left 1 line space between salutation and the 1st paragraph Indent your paragraphs by .5 and there should be a line between each succeeding paragraphs (paragraphs can be left aligned, no need to justify) Closing remark should be indented at 3.5 (like the date on top) 3 line spaces between Closing and Name of Sender Name of Sender is also indented at 3.5 1 line space between Sender's name and Enclosure (if any) and should be flushed left. If your letter goes to a second page, header on the next page should be flushed left and it should have the following Name of the addressee on the first line Date of the letter on the second line Page number on the third line There should be at least 1 line space between your header and the body of the letter. Hope that helps!
- MS works and MS Word usually have them. When I was a clerk, the company is using them. Pretty simple. My lawyer uses another program but sorry I forgot what that is
