Resource: Open Source Web Design Templates? This isn't a question, but rather a resource for anybody looking for web design (html/css) templates that are open-source, and use valid syntax. It's all open-source, meaning it's packaged so you can download them for free and use them without (any real) limit. www.oswd.org (Open-Source Web Design)
How do I make my CSS web template compatible with all web hosts? I have been experimenting with designing CSS web templates with the intention to sell them. Are most standard CSS templates compatible with hosts or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks in advance.

Why is my design view in Dreamweaver MX04 messed up when I am using a free CSS template? I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004. I have tried to download at least 5 free CSS templates from various places. All of them have correct CSS code and they preview correctly in Internet Explorer, however my "Design View" is all messed up, nothing appears how it should. The alignment is all off, pieces are all over the place, nothing is as it should be. I have to modify a line or two, then preview in IE, the do it again and again after ever little change to make sure i am not screwing the whole page up. That kind of illiminates the whole purpose of Design mode. I am a visual person so staring at lines of code will not work for me, can anyone help. Serious answers only please. Please do not post "Learn the code" or any variation of that, i am slowly learning more about the CSS code, but for now its hard for me to see how it is applying to the design when the design mode is messing up so bad.
Where are the best CSS resources online for Website Design? I have recently got back into website design and I am really wanting to learn hardcore CSS. I have seen some really nice websites out there that are really creative, and all seem to be created with CSS. If I am wrong then please let me know.... ? I have been using a few things like Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver, but CSS is rather new to me as a learner for what I am trying to create. I have already discovered the CSS zen garden, but I want other resources that offer out VERY high quality css templates for free for me to try and learn from. Please post your best answers below....
How to get the CSS correct on my Freewebs.com account? Okay, I just purchased my own domain name, through Freewebs.com, and I do not like any of the pre-designed templates that come with it. I looked around and downloaded several layouts that I liked, and some of them come with a CSS file, for the design. I went to the editor, and selected blank CSS template, and went in to advanced. I pasted the CSS info in to the box where it asks, and it does turn my website the certain colors...etc, but none of the images. I noticed that in the CSS folder I downloaded, it doesnt really specify the image URL it just says (images/img1.jpg) Do I need to upload the images somewhere, so I can specify? I know a little about CSS, but I just cannot get this to work. :(
Convert a photoshop website design (psd) to css + html? I have seen many free website templates that have PSD (Photoshop templates) and the css file with them. I have made a design in photoshop, so i was wondering if there is a trick to convert the photoshop file to css or html.. because if I open the css file, the layers are exactly the same in pixels, example: a div layer with these caracteristics: height 25px width 50px top 512px left 450 px, with the same font and font size, etc, etc. Is there a way to convert the photoshop website design i have designed to css, instead of calculating the top, left, right, bottom dimensions of the page?
Which is the best freeware for generating HTML and/or CSS website templates? I want to download a best freeware which will create nice website templates by just clicking few buttons and will allow me to copy the code, which was used to design that nice template. As I will just copy the code to generate that nice template and will save that as ".html" file and will use with any of my websites. And if there is any paid software which is affordable to buy and flexible to work with and can perform great, then also let me know about that software.

Where can I find some clean, simple html/css templates for free or a low fee? Hi, we are a salon and are currently expanding. Our current website and business only focuses on nails, but we are making a whole new floor of treatment rooms to offer new services. I would really like a god clean, simple template to work from, to cut down on all the design time. I have identified what I would class as my ideal look, check www.mintsalons.co.uk If you have seen anything similar to this, or know of somewhere then please please get in contact! How can I edit free html or css templates so i can customise them for my site? I have a new community website at http:www.blackcountrygob.com. The website portal was built by someone I am no longer in contact with and I would like to add new areas to the site and also to improve things but I simply have no clue what I'm doing. If you take a look at the site you will see various links to other areas. The jukebox for example is a plain page with the music player embedded in but it looks plain and boring as does the games section. I would like to use free templates as a base for these sections but just do not know how to use them can anyone offer any help. It's a free to join, non profit group with a decent aim but needs assistance to get it lkooking good. I have very limited knowldge and use frontpage so any help would be appreciated. Basic explanation please as i'm sort of thick where it comes to web design lol

What's the best way to design a website? I don't know HTML or CSS. I assume I want to utilize a website template for designing purposes, then decide which registrar/hosting company to use. It seems as though Dotster & GoDaddy are the only two that offer website templates, but I've never heard anything good about GoDaddy. Any insight into this will be appreciated.

I can send you any code you might need, just let me know. Thanks in advance Thanks devils i, I can not rate your answer but that did work. CSS: How do I prevent cleared elements from clearing a specific float? I am designing a Wordpress template. I have the sidebar in a <div> floated to the right side of the page. How can I isolate the sidebar float so cleared elements in the content area do not attempt to clear the sidebar?
Adobe Dreamweaver Certification? I'm taking the Adobe Communications Expert exam soon. What are on the new exam test? Is it basically the same information that was in the 2009 version? I've heard basically just to know template design, CSS, and tables? Is this true? No matter whats on it I know I'll pass but its always good to know what to look out for. If anyone has taken the 2010 version recently or even the 2009 version, can you please give me a synopsis?
Convert photoshop website design to dreamweaver? Doing some work for my mom (who is a graphic designer)... she wants me to learn either RapidWeaver or DreamWeaver and then teach her... for $300. I know little to nothing about css and only the basics of html. Her designs are not based off of any template given in RapidWeaver and it is difficult to manipulate those templates. DreamWeaver seems incredibly over my head given my lack of css skills. Any suggestions??
CSS Template Hosting? I found a free web template that I want to use for my eBay auctions, but it uses CSS. Is there anywhere I can host it so I can you that design for my multiple auctions? Thank you!
Dreamweaver tutorial? Hi, i have downloaded some CSS templates to design a website for the first time, but i have no previous experience on using dreamweaver. Does anyone know of a good site with FREE dreamweaver CS3 tutorials, many thanks Steve
css template that only defines elements? I'm designing a website and cbfed styling it myself so can anybody recommend where can i find some good css templates that are under some license like creative commons or public domain that i can use? i've already got a .css for handling positioning but would like some css that merely defines the actual html elements (not classes or ids) so that i can just use that style for the elements and itll default throughout my website
What's a job title for someone in Marketing & Communications that also manages a web site (design)? Basically, my company refers to my job as a "Webmaster." This job title is outdated in my opinion. I basically was hired to do the following (with the following knowledge): - Point contact for company web site (updates, changes, additions, new site designs, project manager/lead for all things company web); - Marketing for e-mail campaigns, web campaigns and webcasts; - Excellent working knowledge of WC3, CSS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, PHP; - Update content via CMS interface (but also manage all templates in this CMS); - Print advertisement design (posters, postcards, magazine ads, etc. etc.); - Interactive advertisement design (FLASH, for example); - Product strategy from a marketing perspective. It's a huge mix of web design, web development, advertising, graphic design etc. and I can't figure out what to call it :) What do you think?

How about some Web Design 101? ? Okay so I somewhat know how to design a website template using PS. I just want to know how to ... code it now. Are there any websites / tutorial pages that show how to design -and- code the layout? Please don't send me any little HTML sites, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Web 2.0 Designs and coding such as xhtml/css/java/etc. Thanks in advance!
Web page templates - good or bad? Hi all. I've been playing around for maybe 18 months in DW. Trying to understand JS, page layouts, behaviours, and so on, and so on. And also learning about the box model, code, css etc, and also how my pages will appear differently in other browsers. I've created several sites, and after major tweeking and altering, i've managed to get all these sites to look fairly similar across all browsers. However, it just seems like such an uphill struggle all the time! No sooner do I sort out a problem in one site, then I have a different issue trying make a new site render properley - and each new site presents it's own new issues! ARGGGH. I'm thinking of giving this Web Design thing a go, and charging money for it in my spare time, after my main job. I've had a play around with some of the CSS rich templates in DWCS4, and they seem really good! I could save hours of tweeking time in rectifing rendering issues with using Templates, and also whilst using them, look at the code embedded and learn from them. I'd like to know, are there really Web Designers out there that regularly use templates, and make money from them, and are they a good thing to learn from? Thanks everyone...
Can I customize or create my own Wordpress theme without extensive web design knowledge? I am interested in started a blog, and after conducting some research, I've decided that Wordpress would suite my needs quite nicely in terms of platform and support. However, I am a very artistic person and I am not comfortable using a standard blogging template. Is there any way for me to create a design template using one of those programs and then have it "translated" into an actual theme? css Zen Garden???????? I dont understand how to use the css off of a template. I know I have to go to resources and view design's css..but i dont get where the css code goes?
how much would it cost to get a wordpress design progammed? I'm a graphic designer and though there are tons (!) of free wordpress themes, I cannot find the one that suits my specific needs. How much would it cost me to hire a professional wp coder/CSS guru/wordpress theme developer? I'd deliver the homepage and subpages (up to 4) as a photoshop template, along with instructions, how it should work.
Cost of coding an HTML/CSS/Zen Cart template based on a mock up? Say I have a web interface that I have designed in Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Fireworks. And that's exactly how I want it to look on the web. There is a very simple navigation set up, and the layout is simple as well. It's just a box with rounded corners (which will contain the content). I would want that box to always be centered in the browser window. Given the Illustrator or Fireworks mock up file, how much should I expect to pay someone to code it into an HTML/CSS template for use with ZenCart which I can then use to build my own ecommerce site?
What is the point of CSS? CSS in web design..........whats the point? can someone please explain to me, in simple terms why they exist? Why are they better than HTML? If they are supposed to allow the web designer more control over the layout why do I always feel the opposite when I am using ready made templates? If on the other hand they enable a website designer to make all round specified design parameters how would I apply it to my site which unfortunately, as it has been built over the years ended up with different font sizes and line spacing on different pages……Is the a CSS tag I could put at the top of each page/main or table to override the other tags The site I am having problems with is www.libyantravels.com any advice to prevent me going mad would be appreciated but please keep it simple.........thanks
I have a website but i don't know what to make it about? i am allowed a website i have an amazing css template i designed but i do not know what to make my site about. Lots of Web Design Questions, help? Alright, I take a great interest in computer related things such as programming, creating web sites, etc. I am currently in a web 1 class in my highschool and have learned Html(I previously knew) and are getting into dreamweaver. Now, my school offers and Web 2 class but really doesn't step into any new topics, just desing curriculum based web sites with dreamweaver. Now I am thinking about going to college to be a web designer, I am fully aware that relying fully on a WYSIWYG editor will not cut it. What do I need to learn yet? Should I learn how to hand code CSS, PhP, Javascript(I can already program in other languages shoud not be hard to pick up), ASPX, and how should I go about learning about servers such APACHE or SQL/MySql? If I do choose to go to college for web design what am i going to want major/minor in? (I specilze in the design/layout if that helps?) Also I dislike the fact that my school does not teach how to design our own templates by designing sections of it in photoshop and slicing it. How can I go about learning to create my own templates by using this process? Also, for my senior project I am remaking the schools wrestling site and are purchasing Adobe Dreamweaver cs3 for my own use at home. Photoshop cs3 is a little to pricy for my budget are there any other reliable programs like photoshop I can use to the same or almost the same extent? Thanks, Dms1ckwit1t Thanks for your reply, its been helpful :D
Web design project to the lowest bidder.? Don't be offended. I just need help and have a limited budget. I am currently on a oscommerce platform with a css template that is ugly. I would like to work with a designer to make my site wider, and have content that I can change on a daily basis. I want my site to function like a cross between dollardays.com and yahoo.com. I would like to ingrate an xml database which I have all the details and other features. I can help with the load as much as possible to make work minimal for the designer. I would like to be involved so that I can learn to change certain sections of the site daily. Like place new ads, change the featured products... If i have to change from oscommerce I am not attached. Actually I kinda hate it. Help! wysiwyg is more my speed but I am open. www.mightyhookup.com is the project

Hello, I am making a type of website shop/store, I currently have the layout all made with a css template, etc. The thing is that this is my first time making a webstore and dont know how it is that I add products to the web pages. Is there something I need to be able to add the products in a web page including the picture, etc in an organized catalog manner? Web template help CSS? This is a template I'm about to use. http://www.oswd.org/files/designs/3223/Blue_Sky/ Try highlighting any of the normal text on the page. It just changes the color of the text and doesn't highlight images or anything else. Copy/paste works fine. How does this theme do it? I've checked the CSS file and found nothing. This is weird I'm on my other computer, and it doesn't do the same thing. The computer with the problem is winxp, this is win2000 Thanks for the help anyway, problem solved (sort of)

Web Design/Development and Flash Costs? Hello, I was wonder what a typical Web site costs to build. I am unsure of current rates and am interested in finding out more about these rates in case I decide to hire someone. Could you please let me know what the current rates are for these? Graphic Design / hour HTML - CSS / hour JavaScript / hour PHP / hour CMS / hour Flash - Actionscript / hour Also, the sites that offer free templates for very little money - is that a good way to go? Thanks ahead of time for the help!
Where can I learn how to design web-sites, not coding? REPOST: Sorry, but some people didn't get what I was asking at first I want to learn how to design web sites, by putting it all together (CSS and graphics). Basically I want to learn the skills to create a visually pleasing website. Any sites that focus on the design over HTML coding is what I'm looking for. I already know HTML, Javascript, some CSS, and others (and graphics designing as well). My problem is that when I try to create a good website, it may work well, but it'll look like absolute crap. I want to improve on that. :) My only good site is http://airhead.somee.com/ because I created it with a template. If there is anything out there that could help me learn to put the code and graphics together to create a good site, that's what I'm looking for. I know the code. I know the graphics. I just want to merge those two.
converting a web page to CSS? i design a website using templates from Illustrator CS2. I'm editing them with Dreamweaver 8 and then uploading them. I've been told that because of the way i've done this, the information on the pages is not searchable. Can anyone advise on converting these pages easily to CSS using either Illustrator or Dreamweaver? I need to do this asap. Thanks. no i don't know code and i've only built pages in dreamweaver that someone else started and just kind of learned as i went. i've never actually built a site from the ground up. no i don't know code and i've only built pages in dreamweaver that someone else started and just kind of learned as i went. i've never actually built a site from the ground up.
Website design question. First timer. Have a question about webpage design.. I recently made a template and sliced it. I have over 18 different slices and now I am wondering how I align the website. May I should had said, do you even have to align them? Or can you just code your styles in CSS and have everything appear in place. Thanks.
CSS Box Help? I downloaded this template (http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/3533) and I got interested in CSS, but i do not know to much about it. As you can see, on the right it has 3 boxes one underneath the other. Is it possible to have the same thing on the left side. I want to keep the size of the left box the same, but i just want another one underneath it. I experimented and was able to do it, but then the 3 boxes on the right would start from the second box on the left. I want the boxes on the left and on the right to start at the same place.
What would be the best software solution for a newbie trying to design top class web pages? I know a bit about HTML and have been reading on CSS and PHP. I want to design my own website, but I don't want it to look like I'm new at web design. Is Dreamweaver a good idea, or should I steer clear of that one for the sake of preserving my sanity? I want to be able to drag and drop, create my own templates and layouts and generate the necessary code. Money is not a limiting factor. No matter how much I spend, I want to be happy about my investment when it's all said and done. I'd basically like to create with ease at my skill level and learn new things at the same time.
An easy way to control layout to web pages / CMS templates? I have a hard time controlling the design and element placement on the page, whether it's page I design from scratch or a WordPress template.. Is there a software that does that simply? If I use simple free software like NVU you just insert HTML tags and have to go in and change the attributes for alignment, which is a tedious process. If I use Dreamweaver, it basically lets you "draw" an element where you want it on the page, but then it hard codes the dimensions in pixels and you lose the natural auto-stretch properties of tables. And now of course the shift is towards CSS. I don't know of an easy to use software that does that. Any advice?
Future of Web Design? I'm 20 and currently run a web design business. I love doing the job because its my passion and my true talent. I mainly focus on the web/graphic template itself but I'm very knowledgable in HTML/CSS, PHP, MYSQL and Java. Do you believe web design will be around as a career for years to come?
XHTML CSS Slicer, Sitegrinder, Rapidweaver, Dreamweaver or other? I am undecided about which method to go for. I am a designer with HTML and some CSS knowledge but find it a pain, also have a lowish budget.. I considered using a slicing service such as psd2xhtml or htmlizer but they seem expensive for just one page.. then there are the software.. I have used Dreamweaver before and hated it (I even preferred to write the HTML code myself from scratch) am now looking into Rapidweaver but it seems limited and all the themes/templates look Blog-like and same-ol same-ol. Sitegrinder was another contender but it seems to have mixed reviews. Is there anything that is affordable that I can use to design my own site , yet have it be XHTML and CSS (not tables), SEO, and all (major) browsers compliant? - Anyone with any experience in these software or companies or know what I'm talkingabout ? ;) :) thanks.
Wed Design CSS & HTML website template? web designers only please? i am looking for a simple music template that i can edit, it has to use css to control layout, have a css menu. is there any websites that offer these templates free or to buy, i dont mind paying up to $50.00. i want to be able to edit it, i dont want to use flash. thanks.
Wanna start a Template Design site.? So I want to start a Template Designing site or start with myspace layouts first. My question, is anyone here a coder or designer, or both? I design and know a couple lot of HTML and CSS. I have one other friend who will work with us but he only designs. So anyone here wanna help start a designing business? He's High Intermediate-Semi Professional designer.
Standard site width for design? In designing a new web page template I'm finding it prohibitively challenging to get CSS to work on IE. So much so that I'm almost tempted to just use tables for it rather than spend time trying to hack CSS to make it look uniform for all browsers including IE. What is the standard width that one should design a site to these days - 1024 pixels? Even though that may be the resolution it is often not the default browser window width when opened. What is a good rule of thumb?
Are there any stripped-bare blogging softwares? I'm looking for something with an easy install, that can be easily incorporated into an existing html/css design. Preferably, to add items I would simply add information into the various fields (title, body, date) on a dashboard. I don't mind installing something on my servers, but I need it to fit my existing design, I don't want to have to build a WordPress template... Does such a thing exist? ...by "stripped bare" I mean that I don't need any fancy widgets, etc. Commenting features would be optional.
Help with pictures - Dreamweaver MX 2004? Hello. I know HTML and CSS and I know how to edit templates and I have my own site at http://colorblindcs.net I am here to ask, if I want to design my own template, do I start on Dreamweaver or PhotoShop? A guide or your own suggestion would be much appreciated. A more thorough and extended answer is welcomed as well.

Urgent website design problem... Please help!? I have a potential client on a low budget (small biz) looking to get a website designed very soon... THE PROBLEM : I only have knowledge of static website coding (XHTML / CSS) as my main thing is graphic design. CLIENT NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO EDIT WEBSITE HERSELF --- has no knowledge of Dreamweaver so I can't create a template like that... Ofcourse client has no knowledge at all about basic coding either.... 1) What can I do for her? Is this a CMS thing? 2) Will I need much knowledge of other coding language to even set up a content management system? 3) How much does it usually cost to get something like CMS set up / equivalent? Is it a once-off expense to the client? As much info as possible would be great as well as ANY RELEVANT AUSTRALIAN LINKS would be great. Many thanks for your help!! B xx

Website design questions? I registered a new domain, to showcase my portfolio of 3d models, textures, animations, demo-reel, etc. Really struggling if I should go the CSS route vs. full blown Flash site. CSS would be a lot faster for me, but Flash might look a lot better... Ugh, I can't decide. I've been looking through templates off and on all day and can't come up with anything that really catches my eye. What would you do?
CSS & Dreamweaver - Links on the page? Here's my thing. I have the main page template to tag links on a certain color and design, and that is fine for the majority of the page, BUT there is a section that includes a link that I want to EXCLUDE from having the regular CSS applied - I need to apply another style of CSS. Is it possible? The reason why I want to do this is because I have a table with a black background, and the text link is gray - and this looks fine. But I have another section on the same page that I need to create links for, but if they're gray, they look very odd against a white background, so I want to apply a different style and color to THAT section of the page. Thanks! Okay, that post seems like it would help, but it still didn't work, maybe I'm not doing something right. This is the section that I'm trying to edit: <p class="links">Click <a href="manufacturers_names.html">here </a>to browse the manufacturer's websites by names</p> I copied and pasted the CSS under my CSS tags and renamed it "links" and did the same somewhere in the link but it didn't work. Nevermind - jaxicle, that was exactly what I needed. I just had too much data in the line - I deleted it and started again and it worked this time. THANKS!
Can anyone teach me, or know of any tutorials, to make my own myspace layouts? I have a basic knowledge of html/css etc but can anyone teach me how to make layouts for myspace? Is there a basic template I can use and just customise to my own design? I'm not talking about something like pimp-my-profile.com, I want to be able to make them from scratch by myself. Thanks in advance for your help!
What do I need to know in creating and publishing a Website? I have downloaded some CSS Templates and I have edited it in the DESIGN MODE of Microsoft Expression Web and Dreamweaver CS3. I don't know how to publish it. How do i upload my page to my site? Do i need a website with my own domain? I have a free web hosting service (X10 Hosting and Freewebs [HTML Mode]), but how do I put my page there? Please be elaborate in answering as I'am only a beginner. Thank you.
Need help inputing an animated image into a webpage template? I'm helping a friend re-edit her website that was done by someone else in the past who designed it with a website template they bought. It was a Flash Animated Template that had regular html along with two .swf (shockwave files or flash animations) that were consistant on everypage (there's about 10 pages). She wanted me to change only ONE of the .swf's so I did and on the Home page (index), it works fine, but when I try to enter the destination of the animated file in the HTML of the other pages (the same way I did on the Home page), it DOESNT WORK?? Could there be something in the CSS of the template that is denying me access to change the .swf file?? The other person who did the website that bought this template is no longer around so is there anyone who might possibly help me?? I have no clue how to read CSS. Thanks.
What steps to host/ design/ build my own funky personal website? Hello! I'd be grateful for advice on building my own website. As a hobby, I'd like to create a personal, non-commercial site. I've got no knowledge of HTML, CSS etc. I already own a domain name to use (registered with free hosting with Bravenet), though I don't like their templates or the style of the free adverts. - What can I do about this? (e.g. moving the domain name/ hosting) - What do I do next in terms of designing/ building my website? - Any general recommendations on: hosting/ designing/ building (easy-to-use software/ WYSIWYG website builders etc.) If someone could give me a link to a "How to build a cool website for beginners" guide, I'd be delighted!!! I know exactly the kind of "look" I want and I'm raring to go with the content- I just don't where to start! Thank you in advance. Scotty
Will you buy a book about details making of this website? Guys, I really need your input on this one. I'm writing Stripe Designer at ( http://alexle.net/experiments/sd/ ) -- It's still in Beta at this time. As I'm having so much fun making the app, I have another idea about writing an e-book on the step by step making of this web 2.0 app: from designing the template in Photoshop, to implementing the CSS, to writing Javascript using JSON with AJAX, to developing the back-end with PHP/ MySQL. The ebook is like a series of in-depth tutorials that covers both the background info (like CSS, JSON, AJAX fundamentals etc.) and how to develop a solution with the provided tools. I'd think a person (especially beginner) can really see how everything in the Web2.0 spectrum is pieced together in a "real world" application ('real' as in a reality show :D) If I spend time writing this e-book, will you consider buying it? If so, how much are you willing to pay for it? Thank you so much for you input. Update: This is not spam or advertising -- I'm throwing out an idea. Please be positive or ignore my questions if you are not okay. Thanks! This is ridiculous .... Why am I being called SPAM? I'm not advertising for vigra or other medications, I'm not advertising for how to make your thing longer or such, I'm not even advertsing for myself or anything. I'm saying that I'm putting out an idea and I'd like to have your comments/ answer to my idea. I haven't even started doing any thing. Why are people sometimes so *rude* and they show no understanding at all? Again, IGNORE if you will so other people can actually have an unbiased answer to my question.
Which is better...? Which do you think is best: A personally designed website or one that uses a template? I know html, css, and that but lack the graphics programs. I can look at a website and usually tell if it was a template or not, but which do you prefer?
Designing a website template? Hi Ok, I am building a website for joomla. I have a free template but im getting bored of looking at it. I want to create my own template. I am very familiar with HTML but I know that I need to learn CSS etc I very much like this template.. http://www.templatemonster.com/joomla-templates/18587.html How would I create something similar to this? Would it be a case of creating the design in photoshop and then putting it onto dreamweaver? Someone try and explain this in simple term please? Thanks x
How can I display this template on my website? I got the template from this site: http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/3330 I downloaded the zip file for it then extracted it. Do I upload the images and copy the CSS onto my website to make the template show up? Because that is what I did, but my website didn't display the template; it only showed the code. How can I make it show the actual template?
How can i sell web templatea? Hi, I have several website templates that I have made, I would like to know how to sell these. I don't want a business or anything. Or do any of you want a blog designing or something? I am good at (x)html, css and Javascript. So, let me know.
General Site Development Question? I downloaded a Free Template for a site (to look at as an example) and I found some interesting things you can maybe help me with. I usually design the site in Dreamweaver, with minimal css like with toolbars or something. when i downloaded the site though, it came with a CSS and a .PSD file. My first question is, whats the .psd for? did they design the site in it? how was it used? also, I looked at the example site which looks great. I took out the CSS, and it looks COMPLETELY BARE. I add the CSS, and it looks Great Again. Are most sites designed/layed out in CSS? It seems so much better. When i usually design mine, i get Spacers like friggen hell. Any tips you can share on how YOU or are supposed to design the look of a site? I'm a rookie, looking for all the help i can get. Share your knowledge! ^_^ Cheers, i really appreciate your input mates!! HOw do they layout a website in Photoshop? (i use it in school, so i can try it)
How to Customize a Web Template? I am attempting to make a website for using a free web template but unfortunately I am not a design savvy at all. This is the template that I'm interested to use http://www.oswd.org/designs/search/keyword/keyword/silverglow/ It's validation is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and using CSS, so I downloaded it and now I'm not sure what to do. I know I can edit the first page in the 'index' file. But what do I need to do to add more pages? For example making the page for 'service' and 'about us' ? If you know how or know a website that can guide me in customizing a web template I would really really appreciate it. So far I could only found one website that tells me what to do next, but not very informative. Thanks in advance!
Creating professional websites. Need to know more? What languages do I need to learn to create professional website which would have: content management system (CMS), forum, users login? Now I know these languages: xhtml, css, javascript, phpbb and photoshop 5.0 for design. What do I need to learn more? If you're websites programmer or designer, please reveal me what well known programs or languages do you use mostly to create professional website? P.s., don't recommend me to use templates, I need to learn myself only with help of programs or web languages.
Dreamweaver graphics help? I have been learning how to design a site through dreamweaver but need a little help with the creative side. Are there any sites that will give me code for a nice border (i am yet to work out how to do this in dreamweaver despite having 2 big thick books).. or does anybody know of any sites that allow you to download free templates/graphics. I am quite a novice and get confused quite easily ;-/ It's taken me 2 months to design and make live a 'coming soon' page which is made up of a logo, weirdly alligned picture and simple text saying coming soon! I'm about to dive into learning about divs, spry and css (seems very confusing) but was wondering if there are any sites that allow me to moify their templates etc to get a bit further with my pages
