How do I make my CSS web template compatible with all web hosts? I have been experimenting with designing CSS web templates with the intention to sell them. I am getting pretty good, but I want to make sure they are compatible with as many hosting sites as possible. Are most standard CSS templates compatible with hosts or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks in advance.

Web template help CSS? This is a template I'm about to use. http://www.oswd.org/files/designs/3223/Blue_Sky/ Try highlighting any of the normal text on the page. It just changes the color of the text and doesn't highlight images or anything else. Copy/paste works fine. How does this theme do it? I've checked the CSS file and found nothing. Web page templates - good or bad? Hi all. I've been playing around for maybe 18 months in DW. Trying to understand JS, page layouts, behaviours, and so on, and so on. And also learning about the box model, code, css etc, and also how my pages will appear differently in other browsers. I've created several sites, and after major tweeking and altering, i've managed to get all these sites to look fairly similar across all browsers. However, it just seems like such an uphill struggle all the time! No sooner do I sort out a problem in one site, then I have a different issue trying make a new site render properley - and each new site presents it's own new issues! ARGGGH. I'm thinking of giving this Web Design thing a go, and charging money for it in my spare time, after my main job. I've had a play around with some of the CSS rich templates in DWCS4, and they seem really good! I could save hours of tweeking time in rectifing rendering issues with using Templates, and also whilst using them, look at the code embedded and learn from them. BUT, when I copy the index page code and begin altering it for a new page in the website, the CSS does not apply to this new page. How can I edit free html or css templates so i can customise them for my site? I have a new community website at http:www.blackcountrygob.com. The website portal was built by someone I am no longer in contact with and I would like to add new areas to the site and also to improve things but I simply have no clue what I'm doing. An easy way to control layout to web pages / CMS templates? I have a hard time controlling the design and element placement on the page, whether it's page I design from scratch or a WordPress template.. Is there a software that does that simply? If I use simple free software like NVU you just insert HTML tags and have to go in and change the <TD> attributes for alignment, which is a tedious process. If I use Dreamweaver, it basically lets you "draw" an element where you want it on the page, but then it hard codes the dimensions in pixels and you lose the natural auto-stretch properties of tables. And now of course the shift is towards CSS. I don't know of an easy to use software that does that. Any advice?

How to use a web template? i purchased a subscription from a web template store online and now am using one of their templates, which is flash based, to create a website for my company. The page file is designed in Photoshop. I want to make changes in the photoshop pages, obviously, to customize it for my company. I have also adjusted and edited the Flash document to make it customized for my company. Now when i load the html page, the unchanged flash plays. Css question regarding firefox? I've been creating a web site from a basic css template consisting of 3 columns and 2 rows, arranged so the centre section covers most of the viewing area with two margins and a footer. I have many pages and they all use the same template, using the centre section as a frame to other pages. All pages work perfectly in internet explorer. One page however shows differently in firefox. The background colour of the margins is a darkish red and the background colour of the page that shows in the centre frame should be white. But it shows as red. It's fine in i.e, plus other pages with a white background show alright in firefox. Why should this one be different and where should I be looking for the problem?

What do you think of these web site ideas? I'm studying web design and I'm trying to publish my first site. I was thinking putting up an html template site to share my ideas and all I've learned so far. Either that, or I'll go for an html/css tutorial site. What do you all think?

Cost of coding an HTML/CSS/Zen Cart template based on a mock up? Say I have a web interface that I have designed in Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Fireworks. And that's exactly how I want it to look on the web. There is a very simple navigation set up, and the layout is simple as well. It's just a box with rounded corners (which will contain the content). I would want that box to always be centered in the browser window. Given the Illustrator or Fireworks mock up file, how much should I expect to pay someone to code it into an HTML/CSS template for use with ZenCart which I can then use to build my own ecommerce site?

Why is my CSS code not displaying properly on Firefox? This is the second time I ask this question, since when I first posted it, I have the files on a server not open to the public. -- I'm learning CSS using the book called "Beginning CSS Web Development: From Novice to Professional" by Simon Collison, distributed by Apress. How to Customize a Web Template? I am attempting to make a website for using a free web template but unfortunately I am not a design savvy at all. This is the template that I'm interested to use http://www.oswd.org/designs/search/keyword/keyword/silverglow/ It's validation is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and using CSS, so I downloaded it and now I'm not sure what to do. I know I can edit the first page in the 'index' file. But what do I need to do to add more pages? For example making the page for 'service' and 'about us' ? If you know how or know a website that can guide me in customizing a web template I would really really appreciate it. Becoming a master of CSS tableless layouts? I have recently become a web designer of sorts. The first page I made with out the help of built in templates cause me so many headaches its not even funny. And building them with tables just seems to be a bigger headache than building them without. It started out as a header with a nav bar and a content area but no matter what I did the content box keep going under the nav box. That was using float, using position:absolute I was able to put the boxes where I wanted them, but then they wouldn't fill the page the way they were suppose to and if I had to make a major change I had to go thru and change everything. reading the rules that govern that stuff was just more confusing "a box's left side can go no farther than the right side of the lefts right side. unless its the right side the the opposite is true????". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to become a master (someone who know what the boxes are doing). Or any tips or tricks on working with table-less layouts. at the time I think my navbar was something like #navbar{ float: left; width:172px; } and my content was #content{ float: right; } Then in had a pagecell which both sat in #pagecell{ position: absolute; top: 150;/*to account for header*/ width: 100%; } then in my code I had <div id="pagecell"> <div id="navbar"> links blah... <div id="content"> content blah... </div> </div> </div> but when ever the width of the stuff in the content div became bigger than the width i was allowed instead of wordwraping like I thought that it would do it would kick the whole div under the nar bar still don't know why I ended up setting the width of the navbar to 20% and the width of the content to 79.9% just incase(rounding up to 100.1% problem) in the end there was only 5 links total so I just but some buttons on the bottom of the header box its www.alicewingert.com I built if for someone else if anyone wants to see how I faired in the end. Its mostly done as of 10/11/07 an suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the point of CSS? CSS in web design..........whats the point? can someone please explain to me, in simple terms why they exist? Why are they better than HTML? If they are supposed to allow the web designer more control over the layout why do I always feel the opposite when I am using ready made templates? If on the other hand they enable a website designer to make all round specified design parameters how would I apply it to my site which unfortunately, as it has been built over the years ended up with different font sizes and line spacing on different pages……Is the a CSS tag I could put at the top of each page/main or table to override the other tags The site I am having problems with is www.libyantravels.com any advice to prevent me going mad would be appreciated but please keep it simple.........thanks

Young Website Developer: Help me chose a free web host!? Hey guys. I'm currently testing out Wordpress (.org) doftware to make a custom blog for my mother's business (photography). Wordpress (.com) did not work out, because it doesn't have plugin features and (free) CSS editing it's themes. Now, see, I'm only fourteen. I'm a fourteen year young boy. I am no hardcore "coder" but I can make my way around things with onloine tutorials, intuition, and cut & paste. I'm trying, right now, to make a dummy site to see if I'm even CAPABLE of making a custom theme for Wordpress. Now, I have no money. I have no choice but to choose a free (and crap-ish) web host. How do I position a picture on the left top hand of a web-page? I have built a website and the picture is at the bottom center of the page. This was a pre built template. Is my CSS Template correctly written for my HTML File on my Domain?

Is there a css template library or toolkit available? What I am looking for is something to satisfy all of these conditions: 1.) It is a css file or set of files that define classes that I can include in html. (Javascript is ok as well) 2.) It will have classes that I can apply to form controls (like TextBox, Select, etc) that will make them look "cooler" than the standard controls. 3.) It has a web page with WORKING examples and a link to those examples can be provided. 4.) Cross browser support including IE & Safari. I have looked around and find libraries like the dojo javascript libraries, but am unable to find working examples of how it changes the look and feel of, say, a textbox on a screen. Where can I learn how to design web-sites, not coding? REPOST: Sorry, but some people didn't get what I was asking at first I want to learn how to design web sites, by putting it all together (CSS and graphics). Basically I want to learn the skills to create a visually pleasing website. Any sites that focus on the design over HTML coding is what I'm looking for. Is there somebody good in CSS?? I have a problem? I'm using css to make a web page. I made all the site, by looking at tutorials on a template. But, forgot to put Header image(On top of the page). Now, when i try to put it on top, i put the code just next to <body> in html file, but somehow, image comes behind the navigation menu which is in the next line.
