Flash Web Design Templates Knowledge Base
Is it hard to sell Flash web templates? I've been into web design before. But I never bothered with Flash since I preferred simple web site design. Then I learned that you can buy Flsah templates for several hundred or even thousands of dollars. How hard is it to design a Flash site? Is it a highly competitive field? Do you require lots of programming and design experience?
Editing web design templates from TemplateMonster.com? I've purchased a web design template from templatemonster.com (see design at the link below) & am trying to get a quote for editing the page. I don't want the flash version, regular is fine & would need to change the photos & text content of the website. I have no knowledge of web design & I did give editing it a go myself, but I just won't be able to do it. I've been phoning around & many places say they can't do it, others are quoting me ridicilous figures. If anyone has needed to get similiar work done, or knows where I could get this work done at a reasonable cost, please let me know. http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/8116.html PS - Please don't refer me to companies like template-tuning etc as I've been to a few like them & found their staff unhelpful & unable to give me exact quotes or guarantees of work.

Flash Web design cost? What's a fair price to pay someone to modify an existing flash template and personalize it add a few media files which already exist? I don't need anything built from scratch but I don't want to spend $300 on Adobe Flash to do something that looks like, well that I did it. I'm no designer. I just want to download a cool template (i've found a few i the $50-$100 range and have it personalized. Maybe a flash intro too but that would also be pre-designed and just need personalization.

Flash Website Templates, Good for Web Designer base? I wonder if anyone has used a service like TemplateMonster.com to create professional websites for other businesses? I do Web Design right now but wonder if this option would be a faster way of getting the framework and just inputing my design. I guess I prefer the design more than the coding part.
Free Web Templates? free websites templates, free web layouts, free flash template job work of graphic or website designing, free templates, free flash, free scripts
When to use a web design template? So we're having a little debate at work, can you help? Some of us agree that it is OK to use a pre-made template (Flash, Dreamweaver, etc), and then make it our own. Some think that you must start from scratch on a design in order for it to truly be yours. What do you think? Is it cheating to go ahead & have a designed template, then modify it - or do you think it's necessary to ALWAYS start from scratch? I got $$ riding on this one! Thanks!!
Web Design/Development and Flash Costs? Hello, I was wonder what a typical Web site costs to build. I am unsure of current rates and am interested in finding out more about these rates in case I decide to hire someone. Could you please let me know what the current rates are for these? Graphic Design / hour HTML - CSS / hour JavaScript / hour PHP / hour CMS / hour Flash - Actionscript / hour Also, the sites that offer free templates for very little money - is that a good way to go? Thanks ahead of time for the help!
How can I build a quality website on a Mac without spending alot of money on a web design program? I'm working on building my first website and I'm using iWeb but I'm not too thrilled with it right now. I'm wondering if there are any cheap or free programs/sites that I could use to help me design templates, flash banners and graphics, as well as a logo, that don't look trashy and that don't look like everything else out there. The site is going to focus on independent musicians and artists across the country, so I want to design something in that vein of thinking. If you could direct me to some programs or websites or even books that might be able to help me, that would be awesome. All I ask is that you don't just respond with criticism and tell me I'm "begging" for free help because I'm just looking to see if there are sites or programs out there that can help me out with this. Please do not answer if you are just going to respond with spam. I'm looking to get help from people who have experience with this and can help me. Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks!
What's a job title for someone in Marketing & Communications that also manages a web site (design)? Basically, my company refers to my job as a "Webmaster." This job title is outdated in my opinion. I basically was hired to do the following (with the following knowledge): - Point contact for company web site (updates, changes, additions, new site designs, project manager/lead for all things company web); - Marketing for e-mail campaigns, web campaigns and webcasts; - Excellent working knowledge of WC3, CSS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, PHP; - Update content via CMS interface (but also manage all templates in this CMS); - Print advertisement design (posters, postcards, magazine ads, etc. etc.); - Interactive advertisement design (FLASH, for example); - Product strategy from a marketing perspective. It's a huge mix of web design, web development, advertising, graphic design etc. and I can't figure out what to call it :) What do you think?
Free web templates anyone? I need a really great free web template non flash or flash for an interior design website i want to design - can anyone help me source a free template -
Where can I find pre-made flash websites that don't require web design knowledge to maintain? From what I can tell, it's not a "Template" that I'm looking for because those seem to require Photoshop or Dreamweaver to be modified. What I need is a fully designed Flash website with some kind of simple customer interface so I can plug in my own content and easily maintain the site in the future. I would also like good customer support for when I get stuck. My business is beauty/ model related and I need the site to have a "log-in" section with separate content viewable by those clients who've logged in. I'd like to spend less than $300 to purchase the site or $50/ month or less to maintain it (not including domain and hosting). Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks!!
Do you know anything about web design for a godaddy site? Just got a site registered, and I'm not too happy with the generic templates and Flash features that GoDaddy offers. Do some people with GoDaddy sites go with a web designer to make it look more professional? Another thing is I don't even know where to start. There are a million web designers out there - which one to choose? Do you pick a local one? How much do they typically cost? TIA
how do i design my own flash website? i dont know anything about flash, but i want a flash website, i have an idea of my web page design, how it flashes and clicks etc... and i really like my idea and want to go with it instead of buying a website template... how do i do it myself? ... or how do i get someone to design it exactly the way specified?
How to use a downloaded flash template? Ok, so I have been doing web design for 3 years now, but i really am not good at flash. So i downloaded a free template online (all you need to do is keep a link to their site) and I cant figure out how to use it. Do you have to insert it into dreamweaver using the add Flash option or what? I think I have tired everything, there must be some certain way to do it can anyone help!?

Help building a non-flash website? I already have a free host, at http://www.itarrynn.co.cc/ and I really love my website's design, I was really impressed with wix's templates. However, they're flash web templates and I need my website to be accessible for devices like cell phones, iPads, etc. Plus, flash is slower. Can someone help me to find free web templates that are NOT flash and actually look good? Thank you :)
Few questions about flash menus...? Hello, I'm fairly new to web design and flash, but had a few Q's. I'm wishing to mimic certain elements from a full-flash template (see *), particularly the way the flash menu & main image are arranged. If I have a a typical flash menu bar (see **), is it possible to have the image partially cover the flash menu as in the template? If so, how can I do this and what is needed? I wasn't sure if Dreamweaver/Flash would allow me to overlap items, or if there was a work-around to achieve such a look. Also, if it's possible with a static image, would it also be possible with a flash image/movie? Thanks! Any help is appreciated. *http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2ps5.png **http://img362.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture4km3.png

What web design cert. program is good for me? Hi Everyone, Currently, I am deciding on which web design certificate program I should take. I decided to go this route since I have a BS already and I am not interested in going back to school for another 4 years. This will all be based on cost and the timeframe. I just want to make sure I am getting everything that I need to get started in this field. Can you please let me know if this is a good program. What are some recommended Web Design Software or Freewares? I'm not a beginner at web design, more like intermediate. I've spent many years using html to create elaborate sites but that is really outdated now. I've recently been maintaining an art site that uses an online site generator. Unfortunately, it is much too restricting. Are there any good programs for download or buying that are relatively inexpensive (I really can't afford Adobe Dreamweaver). I'd like something that is media-geared rather than business-geared because I am mainly hosting my artwork. Anything would be appreciated. Also, flash programming would be awesome, but I''ve never used flash before so it would have to be simple. My current site is http://sweetappletea.webnode.com so you can get an idea but I'd like a little more versatility with my gallery and templates.
Webpage design who to use? Okay I honestly don't know much about web page design, host or SEO. I used a very crappy template for my current web page. I realize that flash based template will not be a good option. What companies/ templates to you recommend as I don't have the money for someone to design it. Any help appreciated thanks

Advice for choppy web page loading? I am new at web designing, but am familiar with Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and Flash. I have designed a template mockup using Fireworks and am using the mockup as a template in DW. When I add info to the only editable region in the middle of the page and load it in a browser the page loads really choppy. I need some advice about how to get the page to load fast without losing quality? Lots of websites have tons of pictures on them and the page I am trying to load has around 15 small .gif pics all smaller than 50 x 50.
Steps to building/learning web design.? I want to start webdesign for simple websites. Please let me know what my best approach should be. I figure: 1. Learn Drupal or joomla 2. Attach a template i buy from monster templates 3. Learn fireworks/photoshop to make it look good. (maybe even flash too) 4. Learn HTML to edit the sites if required

How difficult is it to learn how to design a professional quality website? BQ: Which is better: Flash or HTML? I want a professional, jazzy website and i'm just not satisfied with the quality of templates/designs that are available through the domain hosting websites like Godaddy or Hostgator. I want a site that looks like I spent some major cash on it. But, I don't really want to spend the cash. Is there a "For Dummies" book on web designing that I can buy to learn as I go? I want to launch a website by the year end and i'm already working on articles for inclusion on the site. Is this an unrealistic goal? Also, what software is the best for novice individuals like myself? Thank you AGAIN!
How much should a web developer and salesperson split the price? One of my friends, who is a salesperson, got a deal for a website design project. He meets with the client, negotiates with them, draws up the contracts, and gets all the data/photos/content that I need. And since the website is to be in Japanese, he is also helping to do the translation work. Me, well, I'm the web developer. I'm going to design everything from scratch, build the web templates, do all the coding, Flash animation, domain registration, server hosting set up, etc. There will also be ongoing monthly payments from the client for maintenance and hosting fees... It's really difficult to decide where to split the money... 50/50? 60/40? 40/60? etc... We both want to be fair with each other because we're real-life friends... but at the same time, we want to have a good business structure to avoid any miscommunications and to base possible future projects on. Thanks in advance for all your input!

How to use a web template? i purchased a subscription from a web template store online and now am using one of their templates, which is flash based, to create a website for my company. The page file is designed in Photoshop. I want to make changes in the photoshop pages, obviously, to customize it for my company. I have also adjusted and edited the Flash document to make it customized for my company. Now when i load the html page, the unchanged flash plays. How can i find where to link the flash to the Photoshop page? I also need to know about CSS Stylesheets. There is one for the page in the folder I downloaded but don't know what to do with it...is there some way to APPLY it to the html or dreamweaver page? HELP. I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to really know what I'm doing.
Where can i sell my work? Hi there everyone! I'm an web designer and i need to know some websites where i can sell my flash movies, websites, grafic, designs, templates, etc... thanks in advice.
How do I get into graphic designing for web pages? Okay, first things first, I know how to surf the web and all, but other than that, when it comes to computers, I'll place my hand on the Bible, raise my right hand, and will take an oath to swear that I am an absolute dumbass that knows absolutely nothing further about them. I want to learn how to use programs like Adobe Flash and varioius other graphic design programs to create elaborate web pages, especially various different Myspace profiles and templates. Those myspace comments you always see with elaborate artificial pictures that look realistic? I want to learn how to do that. What's seriously embarrassing is when I see 14 year olds making these elaborate profiles and webpages with different sparking icons and all, and I'm 21!!! What programs are used, and how can I learn to do that too? (Oh, and remember, you're talking to an idiot here, so please be simple and specific) Thank you!

Website Templates? I currently have a website up that I created with FrontPage 2002. I want to kick it up a notch since it looks outdated. I don't have HTML knowlege and have been exploring the already made templates that are out there using Flash, etc. that look fabulous! Do I need to run out and spend money on more software, ie photoshop, dreamweaver, etc? Are these templates easy to change using a web design software? Thanks!
Bad Business on My Part? ***Note*** I posted this in another category too, so I hope I don't get in trouble but I really need the opinions of people that read and answer in this category too. ***End Note*** OK... I design websites. I do not sell templates. As a matter of fact it is all over my website that I do not do templates, ever. But a little over a year ago a new client came along and said he was looking for a template. He said he wanted a website built that looked cool and that he would update it. I never told him I would give him a template, as a matter of fact I told him that he seemed like a busy guy and that I would be there to do the updating of his site for him. So what I offered him (verbatim) is: ********* $365 Includes: 5-7 page site designed and implemented Hosting if needed Up to 100 Email Addresses (if hosting with me) Flash Design (2 max) Logo Design and / or Manipulation Contact form on site (PHP) Free Updates for the existing content of the site (once site is designed and implemented) 1 Year - 24/7 Support (just email or call me anytime for any reason) Submission of your URL to over 200 Search Engines quarterly After one year, if you like to continue my services I just invoice you an additional $365 on the 1 year anniversary date. ********** Now... The anniversary date has passed. I sent 3 invoices to the email address of the guy that started this agreement. I sent a 30 day notice, a 7 day notice and a 1 day notice. There was no reply to any of them. I waited 10 days after the account was due to be renewed because that is what I say I will do in my Terms Of Service. And on this 10th day I filed a DMCA (copyright infringement) with the company that is hosting his site. I did this because, again, I do not do templates. And in my TOS it says: ********** All web site designs developed by and implemented by <my real name here> will remain the Intellectual Property of <my real name here> and domain names purchased by <my real name here> will not be transferred to the Customer if at any time either <my real name here> or the Customer cancel the Customers account, or the Customer violates any credit terms or other terms associated with this agreement and or their account. ********** and ********** Any artwork, images, or text supplied by and / or designed by <my real name here> on behalf of the customer and / or for use on the clients website, will remain the property of <my real name here>. ********** Among other things. I do not sell templates, I sell a service. If someone thinks they bought my designs, I'm sorry, but they didn't, and I have gone out of my way to make this clear. Anyway, today I get a call from someone else that works at the place I did the site for, actually the owner. He tells me that the person I was working with is no longer with his company, and the whole time he thought what they purchased was a template. I explained to him what I just explained here and I told him that I would sell him the design outright and royalty free for $99. He talked me down to $75. Which is cool. I just don't like my work out there, and people hacking it up and making it look bad which makes me look bad, which is one reason why I hold the rights to my work. The other reason is, since I don't do templates and every site is designed from scratch there is much more work involved, and if someone is done with their site, moves on to another company or whatever, then I am free to take that design with me and sell it to someone else who may have similar needs. I have been doing webs now for over 10 years, and this is honestly the very first time I have been in this situation. I kinda feel like a jerk, and although I had no intention of misleading anyone it appears that there was some confusion. But all in all I think the offer of buying my design for only $75 is a sweet offer to resolve the situation. Am I being a jerk? And if I am, do you think it's justified? Let me know, I really want as many opinions as possible. Thanks Oh, and yesterday I emailed him a payment link for the $75 and he still has not paid.

Thanks
How do I edit/upload Flash template? I bought a flash template but i am unfamailier with how to edit it, save the changes correctly, and than upload using FTP(I use core but i also have FlashFXP)...I also have the whole Abode Design Premium CS4 Suite.... So after purchasing, I unzipped the folder and it contains: -ONE main flash document -ONE email PHP script -A fonts folder -11 photoshop documents (for every page) -ONE swf movie -ONE gif of the home page -ONE html document... My queston is how do i edit the photoshop files (change background images from the default pics), edit the text on each page, change the fonts, and than properly save it all so that each component is updated.... In other words, do i edit the photoshop files to my liking, than save for web and put their html codes somewhere? Or do i do all the editing in adobe flash? If someone could tell me what applications/files to edit, what to do with them once their edited, and what format to save everything in so i can transer it all in my FTP that would be AWESOME...thanks SOOO much to anybody who answers, im going nuts trying to figure this outt...

Which web template would be best for this company? Hello, Please rate the following web templates for a technology/management consulting firm. I wasn't sure which would be best design-wise and company-wise. How long should it take to build a nice website? Any good Web Designers recommeded? Our web designer was hired in October 2006, here is our site: www.hottubshawaii.com When finished our site should have about 50 pages, some flash, a 3D "color chooser" where you can mix and match colors on a hot tub, a slide show in the photo gallery, and a 3 question questionairre that should produce a recommeded product. I have given the designer all the photos and info needed to build the site. I actually designed the home page in Photoshop to tell him what I want it to look like. It has been over 7 months now and as you can see, it's not done. We are thinking of firing this guy. Do you have any recommendations for a new designer? If we fire him, will all of the work so far be lost (i.e does he own it?) P.S. There is also an online store, which he put up with a oscommerce template and I have added all the products.
What is a good website design/hosting company? I just need a basic, affordable template, for a business to consumer web site. In particular, one that will allow visitors to search available products, and fill out an order form to purchase those products. I also need a company that is "flexible", and will allow me to easily upgrade to a flash site in the future - when my budget permits me too. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question!
Best Website Design Software? Hi, there! My fiance and I own a new photography business and are tired of using MySpace as our home page, so I bought a domain name and am trying to make a website. I am fairly good with HTML, but I want a site builder that is easy to use so that she could update it on her own. I am looking to buy a program that allows you to create the site using visuals rather than HTML text, you know? Like FrontPage, I guess--that gives you the code while you alter your site. I would also the program to have some templates to help us work with. Our website is www.cc-kc.com, and right now we have a free flash template that we've been using, but it sucks. Please go check it out to kind of see what we're working with. The more prefessional and fun the website, the better. Please let me know what you think is the best for what we need it for! Nothing too complicated, just something we both can use that will give us web site freedom. Thank you!! - Kyle
how to post a HTML coding into WEb hosting?? i use dreamweaver with HTML template to design the web site that include images and flash..but when it comes to uploading, the outlook is totally change..should i convert it to PHP first before host it up or...?
Presenting an online portfolio using PS slideshow template? Hi there. I'm applying for a digital media course and as part of the application process, I need to present a portfolio of my existing work both in soft and hard copy. I've got a great hard copy version which showcases my Photoshop & Photography work very well, however when it comes to online, I currently just use a slideshow created in Photoshop. The slideshow has a nice a nice clean and modern look, but is obviously templated - or at least it's obvious if you know PS :) Two of the aims of the course are to learn web design and Flash (amongst many other things) so I doubt they'd expect the most amazing digital portfolio ever, however my question is whether you think this PS created slideshow is good enough, or would it look more impressive if I created something in Flash, even if it didn't look as streamlined as the templated PS version? Thanks in advance for your advice... Edited to add: From what I can tell, the portfolio is essentially to prove I have a background in digital arts.
How can I go about creating professional swish templates? I am very interested in web design and would really like to know how to create professional templates like the ones on their website. The templates made by swish: http://www.thetemplatestore.com/swishtemplates.asp I have looked through tutorials and such but none of which really teaches you how to make really good ones like these. I understand that they are "company made" but I have seen other websites use swish to make professional designs. I'm kinda bummed out about this, is there any way for a novice to learn how to make templates like these? What do I need to do to? Note: I was thinking about taking up lessons in learning flash but would that help? Thanks!

What degree best suits me? Im thinking about going to Uni to study something computer based. I've been a avid computer user since i was very young and it seems like the obvious career move. I mainly enjoying using tools such as Flash and PS. Hobby wise i make animation shorts and use photoshop to create different things like avatars and desktop wallpapers. Im also into building websites, although i mainly use basic wordpress templates then edit them myself using WinSCP. Career wise i think i would suit the 9 till 5 working week, and i dont mind being mainly office based. I have looked into many different ways of making money without being involved with a company and the building and sale of websites/landing pages sounds very appealing. Currently im a barman, and have been involved in the catering industry since i was 14 and hate it. I would definately say that i have had enough of serving the general public. Whilst working at my local i have been working from home to generate some extra income by designing banners and flash advertisements for small-time websites, as well as dabbling within the affiliate marketing sector. I was thinking that i would suit a web design course, but im worried about the amount of coding involved. Any ideas?
How much should I charge to make a website for a friend? Hello, YAY! I got my first web design project. This is for a friend, and I dont intend to charge full price, but frankly I dont know what to charge. Basically this friend is a Psychologist and the project sounds easy. Basically a 5-page site - a simple template, and she will provide the text. She wants me to register the URL, get the hosting set up, and put the site together. I have my own reseller account so basically the hosting will be free for her -or I can charge a nominal fee. build it into the cost. I dont know if I should charge her a hourly rate or just one flat price for everything, but the entire site should probably take a day to do. I figure that I want to do a few of these to build up my portfolio and go from there. And since she is a friend, my thinking is that I wont gouge her with the price or anything. But I really dont know what would be a fair price. What do you suggest? She has another friend who is talking about getting a website and her husband also has a small business but no site.. So this could be the beginning of something.. Oh another question. How much space should I allot for a site like this? I was thinking 100 MB is more than enough. 5 web pages using the same template - some photos - maybe one flash animation - but that is it.. Thanks much
Could someone please give me some advice on Joomla!? I am attempting to start my own web design business and have managed to pick up 2 clients already who are very patient and willing to let me work on their site for a very low price. In exchange, once I'm done I will be able to use their sites as my example work. I have chosen Joomla! as the content management system to work with. I am running into a few problems. 1. I have very basic traning in html, xhtml, & css. No experience with php mysql or xml. I also know a very small amount of javascript. I am trying to build my own templates but just keep getting frustrated, any advice? 2. I feel like I'm trying to learn multiple things at once and am just running around in circles learning nothing. Could someone provide me with some direction on what part of the website to build first. EX: Template then content.. 3. One of my clients is interested in having words move on his page, is there a way to do this without knowing flash? Thanks!
What program(s) works best for building a business based website? I am going to start web based business in the next few weeks and I would like to do my own web design. I do not want it to be over the top, using flash, or anything too complicated, but at the same time I do not want it to look simplistic or like it was built using a template. Eventually I will need to incorporate a database, but most definitely not at first. And I will be setting up a merchant account and will need some sort of shopping cart feature. What program(s) would be best suited for building a site like this? (I will be working with a pretty skilled graphic artist, so I really just need something to build and maintain it) Thanks in advance!
DIV layer keeps moving when i resize browser! Please Help!? i am kind of a newbie at web design. i got this project i'm working on. i created the template in photoshop and i don't want to slice it. right now it's just a background in a html page and i want to had content ( text, images, flash) over it by using div layers. My problem is that the div layers keep moving out of place when i render a preview in the browser, and when i resize the browser they keep moving all over the place. how do i get them to stay stable in the right place i want them to! using dreamweaver, please help!
How to upload a website I designed? I designed a website for my mom using Adobe Flash CS3, is there an easy way to upload it? She and I have been going in circles and running into all this technical jargon that she doesn't understand. I have a degree in graphic design, but I don't have much experience in the web developing side of it. I know an older friend whose a web developer at Maritz, but she doesn't have time to help me out because she works all week and I work all weekend. Is there any easy way I can upload my own design I did in Flash, like by myself and make it accessable? My mom tried different hosts but we always have to go by their templates and can't design it our own way? Are there any special programs I need? Any helpful suggestions? It's a plus if anyone answering is an expert on this. Thanks.

what to choose - Jsp or asp or php etc. Building a website with following features? Its a professional website with 1) normal pages having pictures, that change dynamically 2) a great search algorithm within own database of website, and or network of websites. 3) buttons that change with pages 4) blogs/forums 5) add/invitefriends, make network(its not basically a networking site) 6) use flash/swf 7) suave looking/ easy maneouvering between pages. i am guy who does know c programming, but nothing related to web designing(except html), i know jsp is sun's baby and asp is microsoft. i am asking, who will do my job best, and how. also can any geek here let me know how template at link http://www.finerdesign.com/website-templates/template-16167.html be made, is it only flash, specially the effect the cursor makes on menu icons. any guys who knows things, and can help me genuinely, can email at ankit7 at gma il. Eventually, the site i am talking about will be mega site, and will be fully developed by set of developers, its just by that time, we can not turn back and change the platform/ basic building block.
