How can I edit free html or css templates so i can customise them for my site? I have a new community website at http:www.blackcountrygob.com. The website portal was built by someone I am no longer in contact with and I would like to add new areas to the site and also to improve things but I simply have no clue what I'm doing. If you take a look at the site you will see various links to other areas. The jukebox for example is a plain page with the music player embedded in but it looks plain and boring as does the games section. I would like to use free templates as a base for these sections but just do not know how to use them can anyone offer any help. It's a free to join, non profit group with a decent aim but needs assistance to get it lkooking good. I have very limited knowldge and use frontpage so any help would be appreciated. Basic explanation please as i'm sort of thick where it comes to web design lol

Because for fun, I downloaded one, scanned the code with Dreamweaver and found quite a few HTML errors plus one browser compatibility problem! Do all pre-made CSS templates have errors in them?

Why is my design view in Dreamweaver MX04 messed up when I am using a free CSS template? I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004. I have tried to download at least 5 free CSS templates from various places. All of them have correct CSS code and they preview correctly in Internet Explorer, however my "Design View" is all messed up, nothing appears how it should. The alignment is all off, pieces are all over the place, nothing is as it should be. I have to modify a line or two, then preview in IE, the do it again and again after ever little change to make sure i am not screwing the whole page up. That kind of illiminates the whole purpose of Design mode. I am a visual person so staring at lines of code will not work for me, can anyone help. Serious answers only please. Please do not post "Learn the code" or any variation of that, i am slowly learning more about the CSS code, but for now its hard for me to see how it is applying to the design when the design mode is messing up so bad.
Problems using CSS templates and dreamweaver? Ok this is going to be a little hard for me to explain so please bear with me I made a site with a free css template in dreamweaver and everything looked great, I previewed it in my browser (firefox) and it looked exactly like I thought it would... sweet Then before replacing my original crapy looking site with my new CSS template site I uploaded the site to a domain name that I own (which was not in use) and it worked great apart from the fact that I had to follow the folder name on the site to get to it What I mean is the free template was called 'the reckoning' and when I downloaded it, it came inside a folder called the reckoning so I uploaded it to the testing domain and I had to go to www.mydomain.com/thereckoning for it to work and I didnt like that much but I thought ok, all I have to do it is change the name of the file 'the reckoning' to index or better still take the images, index.html and the style.css and put them on my other site and it will work But it didnt now the site only has text and some bullet points and stuff its a real mess :( I have tried for two days now to fix it and I have no idea what I am doing wrong Please help Thanks Also I forgot to mention that it worked ok in Internet Explorer for a while then it stopped working :( Also I have deleted all of the stuff that was originally on my site so there should be nothing conflicting with my CSS file When I uploaded the new site I also made sure to upload the images folder aswell, Also I tried deleting the images folder and just having the images but to no avail

Kompozer and free CSS template problem? Can any one help me in my CSS Template? I have downloaded a free CSS template. It works fine when use as it is, but when i replace its header image to mine then it does not show any image. okay but the header image which i have got by default is working fine with the relative coding. Where can I find a great (free!) CSS layout/template for this project? Here's the scoop: Every year my college publishes a book with art and literary work done by the students. The website that was created for the group who publishes this book is quite ugly. I mean super ugly! It's my job to redo the website. At first I was just going to change some colors here and there but now I am thinking I want to just redo the whole thing entirely! I am looking for a nice, fresh layout that will appeal to college students. Something simple yet eye-catching. I've already done a Google search and haven't been too impressed by what I have found. Help me figure out how to tweak this CSS web template? I'm trying to use the free CSS-based template here for a site: http://www.wolf-howl.com/csstemplates/28/ Could someone please define for me exactly what values in the CSS declarations denote the positions and width of the page as a whole and the columns? I'm trying to adjust the width of each column to fit neatly in the browser and with each other, but some of the styles seem to have multiple width attributes and I'm not sure which to adjust. Help! Help on my website? CSS not working? So I made a website using a free CSS template from the interwebs. The CSS works fine while on my computer, it shows up nice and purty. But I uploaded the "stylesheet.css" along with ALL the pictures it needs, and also my website itself, onto my web hosting server. (which is also free) However, when I access my website online, only the background color works. None of the pictures like the nav bar or side trim pieces, etc. see? somethingelse.webhosting-for-free.com Help? (ps it shows on the hosting server that all the files are uploaded online, the thing just isnt USING the pictures on the page) duuuude u rock soooooo much!! thank u! i never would have guessed because its not my CSS/text file!
How to integrate the links and menu in CSS? I am working on a personal website and I have downloaded a free CSS template. I am somewhat familiar with CSS (its been a few years) but need help integrating the side menu bar and top menu bar in the style sheet so I don't have to change them manually on every page. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for the ideas so far. I do not believe that I CAN do this with CSS... so then here's another question: How do websites, like CNN.com for example, have the SAME links on every page WITHOUT having to manually change the links on EVERY page? What type of script will do this? I am using adobe dreamweaver and I also have microsoft frontpage. Is this something I can do with these programs? I usually write my own html/css from scratch, so i'm not very versed with these programs. Thanks!!!

css template? OK, I got a free template on www.2dwebdesign.com/ that I wanted to use for my website, but I can't find any websites that will host it for free. Website Templates? Do any of you know of any websites that have free CSS website templates, or know where I can get a coustomizable style sheet, where I can choose/input my own colors and backrounds? I'm looking for a template for a Self Injury awareness site. I'd prefer the site to be red, black, purple, grey or orange. I don't want it to be triggering to those visiting, but I want people to understand the emotional aspect through my design. I've tried Createblog, and I've looked through all the templates on Freewebs, and I haven't found anything. \ I have a couple of wall papers saved that I might like on it. Before the site was pure HTML which I coded myself, I decided to apply CSS to it but I do not know CSS so I downloaded a free template. I tested all the pages before uploading them and and they worked fine when opening them with IE and Opera Browser, then I uploaded and the CSS code only showed on the index.html, i could upload all of the pages for somebody to look at and see if they could fix it, like I said I know HTML but am a n00b when it comes to CSS.

Just the text is showing on my website? Help! I also save the index into an css file and transfer that into the FTP and it still doesnt work. However if I use the original non customized index and css file it works. But those are no good to me. Any suggestions on what im doing wrong? I just created a new site using a css free template that I found on Open Source Web Design, ( http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/2426 ), but for some reason the pictures that I inserted in the site does not show in the browser. Help With CSS? Okay, I have no clue how to use CSS. I'm making a website on Freewebs; the free version, of course, but I found this template on a free template website that I really like, but I have no clue how to add it to my Freewebs website. CSS and Flashlayouts - Need Help Please? For 3 days I have searched for Free CSS and Flashlayouts. I'm not having luck. The CSS I need a nice layout that is premade - I don't know how to make these yet... and very little time right now to learn how. I keep finding layouts that I have to put together myself or ones that say "your company's name here" .... The Flashlayouts no luck either... I keep finding flash widgets... I tried LoveMyFlash but it's for MySpace *tells me to enter My MySpace account* - and I don't need this layout for the MySpace site. I'm using Yahoo and Google search engines and they don't seem to understand "Free Flash Layouts" or "Free Premade CSS Layouts or Templates" I'm tired of looking with no luck -- it was time to ask someone who might know. I need help with website templates using Dreamweaver/FTP? I downloaded some free templates and they come in a zip file with a css code and a index along with the images used in the index, however, when i customized the index in dreamweaver (and by customized i mean just changing the text to fit my website) and then I transfer it through a FTP to my website. The result is just my customized text with no template or images. The weird thing is when i just transfer the original css and index from the downloaded template it works, but thats no good to me because the text doesnt fit my webiste. The problem is when i try to customize the orignal index and css to fit my website and then transfer it with FTP it whacks up the tempalte/formatting/and doesnt display images or banner or anything

Young Website Developer: Help me chose a free web host!? Hey guys. I'm currently testing out Wordpress (.org) doftware to make a custom blog for my mother's business (photography). Wordpress (.com) did not work out, because it doesn't have plugin features and (free) CSS editing it's themes. Now, see, I'm only fourteen. I'm a fourteen year young boy. I am no hardcore "coder" but I can make my way around things with onloine tutorials, intuition, and cut & paste. I'm trying, right now, to make a dummy site to see if I'm even CAPABLE of making a custom theme for Wordpress. Now, I have no money. I have no choice but to choose a free (and crap-ish) web host. I have used the wonderous tool called google and worked my way down to two web hosts. Tell me which sounds best. What do I do with a code that has both html and css in it? OK, I downloaded a free templete from http://www.2dwebdesign.com. "Simple enough" Then I put all the stuff on it that I wanted and saved it as "all files, index.html" But now when I upload it on freewebs.com, my site looks like this http://www.freewebs.com/showcaster/index... instead of looking like this templete http://www.2dwebdesign.com/templates/145... Why is that!! I tried saving it as index.html, index.css, index.xml, but none of them work!! What do I need to do to make all of the templete work on the internet! Because it works just fine on my desktop. It's just when I upload it on freewebs.com when It gets messed up! I also tried 110mb.com but that doesn't work either. free template help!? OK, I downloaded a template from http://www.cssfill.com/business/20/css-cloud-company And after I downloaded it, the folder appeared on my desktop. And when I open the folder, I see one file that say's index and it has the internet logo above it, then I see another file that says usage witch is a notepad file. Then there is a folder that says img, and in it, there are all the pictures that are in the template. Then there is another folder that says style, and when you open it, there is a css notepad file. And last there is a folder that say's psd, and I can't open what's inside there. So my question is, when I try to upload the file that say's index.html onto my freewebs account, it works, but the picture's aren't on there. WHY!

how do you make your own domain or a website for free? only in an easy way...100 % free and you can put flash intro or create your own and your site template can be a flash too...no limit in any thing that you want to add or put...css is allowed too or html...tnx again in advance..^_^
